Cycling in Suffolk on and off road.

Boxford Tornado – event for 2013

A road based sportive along quiet-ish roads and lanes in Suffolk. There are three distances - 20, 40 and 60 miles. This is the ideal excuse to get some early season miles into your legs.

I did this last year and enjoyed it immensely. The event was pleasingly low key, which is reflected in the entry fee of £5.00. I do recall the excellence of the cakes at the end so, if you need no other encouragement enter for the cake!

The 60 mile route was typical for the area, gently rolling and not that tough but, if it is windy you'll find yourself working hard on upwind sections...something to do with the lack of cover from the wind. This is quite normal for the area and you just have to suck it up.

My entry is in and I understand I am in no way the first to sign up. There are limited places so make a note to self - send your entry off now. Entry is online and easy.

The routes are available as .gpx files already so if you are the sort of person who likes to ride the course before the event - a trait seemingly endemic among certain types of mountain biker - you can do so.

This event has the Suffolkcyclist seal of approval.
